Stories People Place: the museum collection reflects the stories of the Yarra Ranges region. It comprises approximately 8,500 items, including 2,000 photographs, oral history recordings, artworks, personal objects as well as a small collection related to Coranderrk Mission and Aboriginal Australians of this area. Key to the collection is the internationally significant Melba collection: 870 letters, photographs and personal objects related to opera diva Dame Nellie Melba, Australia’s first international star, whose home was in the Yarra Valley.
