Road Safety

The wide variety of road types in the Yarra Ranges, ranging from multi-lane highways to unmade rural roads, pose road safety challenges.

We have made an increased commitment to to road maintenance, and are working with the state government to upgrade roads, particularly on our major transport routes. This has led to a significant improvement in the safety of our roads.

Our road safety committee, Road Wise, includes representatives from Victoria Police, VicRoads, the Department of Education and Training, US Bus Lines, Openroad Tourers Motorcycle Club and the Warburton Heritage Trail.
