Funding Your Event

Even small scale events will need some capital to make them happen. Depending on the nature of your event, there are different options for finding the necessary funds. Unless you have a guaranteed source of income it is generally wise to start small and to build from a sound base.

Before beginning your funding program it is important to research what the components of your event are, and how much they will cost you. You should identify what you can source "in-kind" (that is ,donated goods or services) and what you will have to pay for.

Remember that Grants or sponsorships, regardless of where they are sourced ,will require you to fulfil certain criteria,and to follow up with the appropriate documentation once your event has been completed. Most events will be funded from a number of different  sources, typically -

• Grant money from one or several funding bodies 
• Sponsorship
• Fundraising
• Donations of goods or services
• Sales of goods or services at or related to the event
