Wahlenbergia gracilis

Common Name: Sprawling Bluebell
Synonym:
Family: Campanulaceae
Size: 10-50cm high
Description: Erect to sprawling tufted perennial herb, many-branched from a few basal stems. Plants often die back in summer to a thick taproot.
Leaves: Scattered narrow leaves 3-70mm x 1-10mm, leaves at base often paired, broader and toothed.
Flowering: Tiny soft bell-shaped flowers to the end of stems. Petals are edible.
Flower Colour: Blue with white style
Flowering Time: September to November
Growing Conditions: Moist to well drained soils in moist to wet forests but often occurring in gardens. Full sun, semi-shade.
Garden Use: Dainty little herb which will seed freely in some gardens.
