Size: 10-20cm x 30-60cm
Description: Prostrate tufting perennial or short-lived herb.
Leaves: Stiff bright green lance-shaped leaves with long spiny teeth, blade 2-15cm long, stalk of equal length.
Flowering: Small egg-shaped to round flowerheads of small flowers on stalks 1-3cm long, rising from base of tuft and from leaf axils, bracts from base of flowerhead longer than flowerhead.
Flower Colour: Bluish
Flowering Time: December to February
Growing Conditions: Moist and winter wet soils amongst sedges. Full sun, semi shade.
Garden Use: An interesting little plant for bog gardens and beside water areas, where the roots do not dry out.
