Common Name: Bidgee-widgee
Synonym: Acaena anserinifolia
Family: Rosaceae
Size: Prostrate x 1-4m
Description: Spreading matting plant, rooting from leaf nodes.
Leaves: Bright green oblong divided (pinnate) leaves to 40mm with 7-11 toothed leaflets which increase in size from bottom to top.
Flowering: Balls of small flowers on long stalks. Balls of reddish fruits to 25mm are covered in burrs.
Flower Colour: Greenish-white
Flowering Time: October to January
Growing Conditions: Widespread in moist to dry sites in clay and sandy soils. Full sun to full shade.
Garden Use: Erosion control through soil binding. Ground cover assisting with moisture retention. Burrs stick to clothing but may restrict foot traffic.
