Epacris gunnii

Common Name: Heath
Synonym: Epacris microphylla var. gunnii
Family: Epacridaceae
Size: 0.5-1m x 0.5-1m
Description: Erect shrub with shortly hairy branchlets.
Leaves: Crowded, concave heart-shaped leaves, 2-6.5mm x 1.8-5.5mm, tip tapering to sharp point.
Flowering: Small bell flowers along branches in leaf axils. Tube of bell shorter than calyx.
Flower Colour: White
Flowering Time: April to October
Growing Conditions: Moist to wet soil in lowland swamps. Frost tolerant. Semi shade. Very rare locally, becoming extinct through loss of habitat.
Garden Use: Attractive plant for small gardens, rockeries, containers. Does not like to dry out in summer. Responds to pruning.

Conservation Status: Significant within the Shire. Locally rare, now extinct in several local sites. More common outside the Shire boundary.
