| Description: | Densely tufted perennial rush spreading from underground stems. Shiny erect bright green stems to 3mm diam. with raised ridges. Pith white, open, usually with large air spaces. |
| Leaves: | Leaves reduced to a sheath to 28cm long, brown to reddish brown towards the base. |
| Flowering: | Clusters of flowers separated by bare branchlets; 3 stamens. Main bract continues above flowers for 30cm. Capsules reddish-brown, flattened on top, as long or longer than flower. |

| Growing Conditions: | Moist to wet soils in forests by watercourses, drains and dam margins. Full sun, semi to dappled shade. |
