Common Name: Broad Water-milfoil
Synonym:
Family: Haloragaceae
Size: Prostrate-7cm high
Description: Spreading semi-aquatic or emergent perennial herb rooting at nodes to form a dense mat. Tips erect.
Leaves: Pairs of egg-shaped to lance-shaped leaves 5-25mm long, broader towards tip, 1-2 lobes occasionally on lower leaves.
Flowering: Single stalkless male and female flowers. Female lack petals, red stigmas fade to white. Fruit cylindric, purplish-black.
Flower Colour: Red
Flowering Time: November to March
Growing Conditions: Moist to waterlogged soil along boggy edges of watercourses. Semi shade.
Garden Use: A good matting plant for edges of pools and dams.

Conservation Status: Significant within the Shire. Known from very few local sites. More common outside the Shire boundary.
