Road Safety for Schools
Students participating in the ROADS Program (Responsible for Our Attitudes: Dedicated to our Safety) take part in a range of interactive activities and educational sessions that explore the consequences of binge drinking and getting into a car with someone who has been drinking. Other information includes alternatives to drinking alcohol, strategies for safety if students choose to drink and what to do in an emergency.
The program was developed by Council's Road Safety Officer, Alcohol and Drug Strategy Officer and School Focused Youth Services Co-ordinator and is run in partnership with Victoria Police, Local Drug and Alcohol Service, Metropolitan Ambulance Service and local secondary schools in the Yarra Ranges.
This program has been well received across the majority of secondary schools in the Yarra Ranges.
