Headlice
Inspections and education
We provide support services for schools, which include inspections and education and training for parents and staff, when more than one case of headlice is reported or suspected in a class.
The inspections and training are carried out by nurses and only children whose parent/guardian has given written permission for, will be inspected. Any siblings of children with headlice will also be inspected, along with their class if they also have headlice.
What is a Parent-Managed headlice program?
Parent- Managed headlice programs aim to involve parents and volunteers from the school to help manage and control headlice. The Department of Health provides schools with information about how to start, implement and continue to monitor these programs.
You can download the information included in the school packs using the link attached.
