Green Streetlight Program

Council intents to replace streetlights across the Yarra Ranges  with new energy efficient globes, which will provide significant savings in energy use and significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

We would like to replace approximately 7,000 of the existing 80W mercury vapour street lights with Twin 14W T5 lamps. These use about 65 per cent less energy.

Council continues to undertake due diligence on the cost and regulatory barriers presented in the bulk change over process.

We are also investigating options to access other funding sources that may support local governments in energy efficient street lighting change overs.
