Water Safety

The Yarra Ranges contains many rivers, lakes, reservoirs and dams as well as public and private pools and water play areas. These enhance our lives and landscapes and provide recreational opportunities in all seasons. We encourage you to safely enjoy these local assests without risk or harm.

Residents who have pools, spas, ponds or other open water on their property should make sure practical measures are taken to keep others safe. You can find out more about pool and spa fencing requirements using the links on this page.

When taking part in water related activities make sure you have a clear understanding of the risks and use prescribed safety equipment.

Learn to Swim

Being able to swim is an important part of being safe around water. Children can learn to swim at an early age and swimming classes are conducted at many of our aquatic centres.
