The safety and wellbeing of the Yarra Ranges community is a priority for us. We believe our community should be able to live, work, learn and visit the Yarra Ranges and be confident that they will be safe.
Our website is a Community Safety Resource, providing information and advice or linking you to helpful information provided by other agencies.
Use the links below for important information to help you prepare for bushfire and other emergencies including landslip, flood and storms. There's also information about our role in the event of an event of an emergency and what we do each year to help prevent bushfires within the Yarra Ranges.
Community Safety Month
Each year, throughout Victoria and in other states of Australia as well, the month of October is designated as Community Safety Month.
Already a well-established concept, Community Safety Month establishes a specific time to deliver programs and messages that promote safety. Local governments are already active advocates for safety across the year, however, this designated month allows councils to leverage off broader safety
promotion and generates momentum and profile for safety through coordinated messages. The objective of Community Safety Month is to promote and advocate for community responsibility for safety.
