| Family, Youth & Children's Services | | The Family, Youth & Children Department has a primary purpose of advancing the health and well being of individuals and the community through:
A range of universal and targeted services in a way that is sustainable in the use of resources (people, financial and facilities) and is accessible and responsive to community needs;
Consultation, facilitation and collaborative partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve effective strategic program planning, development, service delivery and advocacy for community needs;
The active encouragement of individual and community participation in a broad range of services and activities that enhance individual and community outcomes and rely on strategic planning, client and community advocacy, consultation, review and network development;
Leading community consultation and network development; and providing local advocacy. |  |

| Family & Children's Services | | The shire provides a wide range of children's services including information on child care centres, children's week activities, early childhood intervention program, family day care, out of school hours and vacation care programs, maternal and child health, playgroups, preschools and the inclusion support program.
Family and Children's Services aim to support the social, physical, and emotional well being of all children aged between 0 and 12 years, and their families.

| Youth Services | | Youth Services provides information and support to young people who live, work or study in the Yarra Ranges. To find out more about their services and acitvites visit their website at www.yrys.com. | |
| Children's Services Hubs | | The Family, Youth and Children's Services Department oversee the development and operation of Council's community hubs. At present hubs are located at Yarra Junction, with the Upwey Hub in developement. Family, Youth and Children's Services will also play a leading role in development and operations of the Monbulk Community Living and Learning Hub.

| Shire of Yarra Ranges Policy for Young People and the Action Plan (2008-2011) | | Shire of Yarra Ranges Policy for Young People and the Action Plan (2008-2011) provides a framework for the development of youth programs and initiatives in line with the Shire's Sustainability Framework and Vision 2020.
The Policy and Action Plan have been developed in consultation with key stakeholders including young people, service providers and Shire departments with the purpose of providing direction to enhance the social fabric and quality of life for young people (10-25 years) who live, work or study in the Shire of Yarra Ranges.

| Transititions Project | | The Shire of Yarra Ranges and a variety of stakeholders has begun a process with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development to improve transitions for children and young people.
