Signs on Streets and Roads
We are responsible for for issuing permits allowing local businesses and residents to display signs and merchandise or to use street furniture.
If you want to display any of the items listed below in a public space you must apply for a permit.
Portable signs
A-frame signs/sandwich boards, display boards, pole signs, windvanes, flags, buntings or similar.
Street furniture
Chairs, tables and umbrellas, banners, footpath enclosures or other furniture.
Merchandise
Fruit bins or planter boxes places on road reserves or council land, advertising or promoting premises and special events, and merchandise which advertise the sale or letting of any real estate.
Applications
The application must include a copy of your public liability insurance to a minimum value of $10 million, noting us as the principal for its rights and interests.
Permit fees 2011- 2012 are
- Temporary sign $150.00
- Street furniture $150.00
- Merchandise $150.00
Combination of two or three separate permits for signs/furniture/merchandise
- Two permits $250.00
- Three permits $390.00

Banner Poles
We provide banner poles at various locations through out the Yarra Ranges for both community groups and private enterprise to promote local events.
Although there is no charge for displaying banners, we need approve the banner before it goes up, and banners are generally allowed to be in place for a maximum of two weeks.
