Open Air Burning
The Yarra Ranges is divided into three areas, Urban, Residential and Rural under the Open Air Burning Local Law 2007. The purpose of this local law is to:
- control the use of open air burning
- encourage alternative disposal and recycling
- minimise the nuisance caused by smoke
- allow burning for the purpose of fuel reduction for fire prevention purposes.
You can download the burning off booklet from this page for more information about open air burning, including maps, how to burn cleanly and maps to help you determine what area you property is in.
You can also view a copy of the local law from this page.
