The Urban Triangle Project
Lilydale * Chirnside Park * Mooroolbark / Kilsyth
... Creating better places to live, work & play ...
The Yarra Ranges is a diverse mix of urban and rural surrounds, with a significant proportion of residents living in or around Lilydale, Chirnside Park and Mooroolbark/Kilsyth.
In recognition of the opportunities presented in these key urban centres, Council established the ‘Urban Triangle’ project. This concept represents Council’s dedication to drive urban renewal and provide contemporary urban spaces for current and future generations in Lilydale, Chirnside Park, Mooroolbark and Kilsyth.
Chirnside ward councillor Richard Higgins says ‘Urban Triangle’ is more than just a term – it’s an opportunity to improve economic, community, social and environmental outcomes for the area.”
“We are currently establishing relationships with significant property owners, community groups and local residents and have established an Urban Triangle Development Working Group to identify projects that will encourage investment and other benefits in the area,” Cr Higgins says.
“The group is working with investors and the development sector to provide locations for business, while also exploring the latest trends in investment, urban planning and renewal.”
Discussions are already well underway with a number of developers about their current and future development plans.
The Council has recently employed an Urban Triangle Place Manager, integrating the activities of “place making” with the community, industry, government agencies and Council.
